A lidded barni-shaped storage jar in cream with a blue floral band and a solid wooden-toned lid, sized for a kitchen shelf.
A lidded storage jar in cream with a blue floral band and a solid wooden-toned lid. It is barni-shaped, the traditional Indian pickle-jar form, and sized for a kitchen shelf, so it holds a decent amount of anything dry: dal, rice, sugar, biscuits. Thrown and painted by hand. Approximately 1.25 litres. It looks right on an open shelf, which is where a jar this handsome should live.
Hand-thrown and hand-finished in small batches, so shape, glaze pooling and pattern vary a little piece to piece. That variation is the point, not a flaw.
To scale
16 cm tall and 12 cm across. Holds 1275 ml, about 1.3 litres, more than a 1 litre bottle of water.

FAQs
Is it dishwasher or microwave safe?
Our ceramics are microwave safe unless they have metal components attached to them. They are not dishwasher safe, so hand wash them with a soft sponge and mild soap.
Why does my piece look different from the photo?
Each piece is made and finished by hand, so glaze, pattern and shape vary a little from one piece to the next. That variation is part of the handmade process, not a flaw.
How do I stop it cracking?
Avoid sudden changes in temperature and handle it gently. Our journal guide to caring for handmade ceramics covers washing, stains and storage in more detail.
Can I use it for food and drink?
Yes. Our mugs, cups, plates, bowls and serving pieces are made for everyday food and drink. Planters, vases, figurines and hanging pieces are decorative and not meant for food.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are dispatched within 1 to 3 business days and then delivered in 3 to 7 business days. Orders placed after 2 PM IST are processed the next business day, and nothing is dispatched on weekends or public holidays.
Is delivery free, and where do you deliver?
Delivery is free on every order, with no minimum. We deliver to addresses in India only, and you can place the order from anywhere in the world.
Can I return it?
Festive Sale: exchanges only, no returns.
Yes, within 7 days of delivery, as long as it is unused and has its tags and original packaging. Request the return on our return request page. Return pickup is free.
