Nerikomi is a Japanese technique. Coloured clays are layered and then sliced, so the pattern runs right through the body of the piece rather than sitting on the surface. It cannot be painted on, and it cannot be repeated exactly.
These are animal-form planters, each one made this way by hand in India. Hand wash, and expect the pattern to differ from piece to piece.
