A spotted monkey hangs from a real wooden branch by its raised arms, legs loose so the whole thing sways. Two tiny bells sit on the branch beside it and sound when it moves. It is part ornament, part mobile: good over a cot, in a stairwell, or anywhere with a bit of air. The monkey is nerikomi clay, spots through the body, on a 21 cm branch with an 80 cm hanging thread. Twenty-nine centimetres from branch to feet.
Nerikomi: the pattern is built through the clay before the piece is formed, and every piece is cut by hand, so no two are identical.
