Charcoal ears and an ochre-dotted blanket, all of it laid into the clay by hand before the elephant was modelled. This is the middle sibling of the Little Hathi herd, and like most middle siblings it looks far better with the others around it: the indigo and golden versions share the shape and the scale, and three of them on a shelf read as a family walking somewhere. Solid, quiet and entirely hand-built in nerikomi.
Nerikomi: the pattern is built through the clay before the piece is formed, and every piece is cut by hand, so no two are identical.
