Catnap is a cat doing what cats do: stretched out on its side, tail curled up and over. This one wears blue rosettes on ochre, and the pattern is nerikomi, laminated through the clay before the cat was formed, so it runs right to the core. It was modelled by hand, which is why the face carries a faintly startled expression that no mould would ever produce. Sixteen centimetres long and low, it fills the awkward horizontal gap on a shelf that nothing else quite fits.
Nerikomi: the pattern is built through the clay before the piece is formed, and every piece is cut by hand, so no two are identical.
