Every ochre ring on this teal shell was laid into the clay by hand before the turtle was formed, so the spacing wanders in a way no printed pattern would allow. A small pinched face at the front, a stubby tail at the back, four feet planted. Solid nerikomi clay, heavier than it looks. Second in a family of four turtles that were plainly meant to travel together, and the one whose colour sits between the others.
Nerikomi: the pattern is built through the clay before the piece is formed, and every piece is cut by hand, so no two are identical.
